Feature image
This powerful new plugin brings powerful FXAA (Fast Approximate Anti-Aliasing) and other tools to remove stair-step aliasing blockiness from photographed or 3d rendered images. This processor can be used to remove moire and blockiness from DSLR footage, shot with a Canon 5d mk II, T2i, 7d, Panasonic GH1, GH2, or other camera.

Feature image
Chroma Reconstructor repairs nasty chroma subsampling artifacts by rebuilding a video signal's chroma channels into 4:4:4. The most obvious artifact of subsampled chroma is blocky / pixelated color. Chroma issues may be especially obvious when keying green or blue screen material, or when viewing a colorful object (a red coat, for example, the red color of the coat may appear to be blocky or pixelated).

This plugin internally converts incoming images to the desired colorspace, applies subpixel reconstruction to rebuild chroma channels into 4:4:4, then applies softening (if desired) to the chroma channels to tame harsh artifacts, and sharpening (if desired) to the luma channel. This can increase perceived sharpness while taming harsh chroma artifacts.

The photo above shows extracted chroma: blocky before, and smooth after Chroma Reconstruction.

Deband restores gradients where posterization occurs due to low bit depth sampling. The effects may be most noticable in 8 bpc (bits-per-color) originated material in gradients. Smoothing and 'varience' are added to remove unwanted banding issues, and to dither the final images.

Deinterlace converts interlaced fields into progressive frames by choosing one of three methods: Reconstructed Field, Blended Field, or Motion Compensated. Fields are half frames, where every-other-line of vertical information is carried through the odd or even field. In static scenes, interlaced 'combs' are not noticeable. Only in areas of motion are the comb artifacts noticeable, where an object has moved positions in one field versus another. This plugin converts 60 fields-per-second to 30 frames-per-second (or 59.94 fields-per-second into 29.97 frames-per-second), and is not designed to remove 3:2 pulldown for framerate conversion.

The Field Reconstruction method generates a frame by generating missing field information with a high-quality reconstruction algorithm. Field Blending combines two fields (odd and even) together to create a smooth look, though it should be noted that this process can lead to a 360 degree shutter due to combining both fields. Motion Compensated is the most sophisticated method and is actually a combination of interlaced (full resolution) in areas without motion, and a Reconstructed Field in areas of motion. This can be considered a 'best of both worlds' approach, as it leaves the full resolution and detail in static areas where interlace is not noticeable, and removes comb artifacts where visible.

Feature image
Fast Noise Reduction uses a variety of noise removal techniques to reduce grain and noise quickly. The methods include: Spatial, Temporal (time-based), Threshold (based on luminance), and Despeckle.

The Spatial method is fast and is recommended for high frequency (fine) noise. The Temporal method is recommended for larger / heavier grain and noise patterns. The Threshold method is recommended for light grain. Despeckle is recommended for uneven grain, or for removing grain / noise from smooth gradients or solid colors.

Feature image
Haze Removal simulates a UV filter by reducing atmospheric haze cause by the UV spectrum, and simulates a polarizing lens by filtering a portion of reflected light through color-subtraction. Note: this plugin may not remove all reflected light that a polarizing filter may remove pre-photographically, as the reflections may already be 'burned' into the incoming images.

Feature image
Sharpest is an enhanced sharpening processor which uses a variety of methods to achieve the desired sharpened look, including edge-only sharpening.

The three sharpening methods used are: Low Pass Filter (used by NASA), UnSharp Mask (very popular), and Threshold (the most subtle method used in this plugin).
